Ingredients

1 ½ lbs
thinly sliced Sirloin Cap or Top Sirloin Steak
1 cup
Asian pear
125 mL
¼ cup
soy sauce
60 mL
2 tbsp
finely grated garlic
30 mL
1 tbsp
finely grated ginger
15 mL
1 tbsp
brown sugar
15 mL
1 tbsp
sesame oil
15 mL
1 tbsp
gochujang
15 mL
2 tbsp
canola oil
30 mL
Udon noodles, cooked
1 ½ cup
julienne red pepper, about 1 pepper
375mL
2 cups
small broccoli florets, about 1 head
500 mL
1/3 cup
finely sliced green onions, white and green parts separated, about 2 onions
80 mL
1 tsp
sesame seeds
5 mL
1/4 tsp
pepper
1 mL

Method

Step 1

Finely grate the pear and transfer to a clean bowl/container, add the soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, brown sugar, sesame oil, and gochujang, mix well. Thinly slice the steak and add it to the marinade, mix well to coat evenly, cover and let sit for 30 minutes or refrigerate.

Step 2

Heat 1 tbsp (15 mL) of canola oil in a large grill pan or skillet over medium high heat. Remove the sliced steak from the marinade. Add just enough bulgogi marinated steak to cover the bottom of the pan in an even single layer. Season lightly with pepper and cook for 1-2 mins, until lightly charred and browned, turn the steak over and cook an additional 1-2 mins. Transfer the cooked bulgogi steak to a clean plate and repeat the process with the remaining marinated steak.

Step 3

Using the same pan, reduce the heat to medium, add the broccoli florets and cook stirring occasionally until lightly charred and tender, about 4 mins. Add the red pepper, cooking for 2 mins. Stir in the udon noodles, finely sliced white part of the green onions and bulgogi beef along with any juices. Mix well, cooking to heat the noodles through, approx. 4 mins.

Step 4

Transfer to clean plates/platter, garnish with the sesame seeds and finely sliced green onion.
