Distribution
Safeway has 3 retail operating areas served by a regional distribution centre. Safeway has 5 distribution centres that collectively provide the majority of all products to Safeway stores. We have a large fleet of trucks and operations in many major cities across Canada.
Manufacturing
The principal function of manufacturing operations is to purchase, manufacture and process private label merchandise sold in stores operated by Safeway. In addition to manufacturing the products for sale in Safeway stores, the plants supply other retailers with Consumer Brands items, which are distributed through Safeway’s Lucerne Foods team.
Transportation
In helping us fulfill our commitment to legendary service, our transportation team ensures that all Safeway stores have the products customers need at all times. It is responsible for the delivery of products from vendors to Distribution Centers, as well as the delivery to all Safeway stores. Safeway operates one of the largest private fleets in Canada.
