Ingredients
- 1 oz
- blanco tequila
- 30 mL
- 1 oz
- fresh lime juice
- 30 mL
- ½ oz
- agave syrup
- 15 mL
- ¼ cup
- fresh seedless watermelon
- 60 mL
- 4
- ice cubes
- 3 oz
- Mexican beer
- 90 mL
- 1 oz
- Tajin (or other spicy salt) to rim the glass
- 30 mL
- 1 large
- wedge of watermelon, dusted with some chili pepper or Tajin
- 30 mL
- 1
- sprig of basil
Method
Step 1
Rim a Margarita glass with Tajin or other spiced salt.
Step 2
Combine tequila, lime juice, agave and watermelon into blender and blend for 45 seconds on medium or until the drink is a smooth consistency—but not so long that it’s liquified.
Step 3
Garnish with a big wedge of watermelon and basil on a pick and add the beer last.
Tips
Supersize it: Make this a pitcher drink that can serve four by multiplying all ingredients except the Tajin by four. Pour into garnished glasses and add the beer last to finish the drink tableside.
Zero-proof it: Use a non-alcoholic beer instead of a Mexican lager and one ounce of ginger beer in place of the tequila.
